Wait, What? Ep. 24: Candyman, Candyman, Candyman!

Jeff Lester

Yup, Episode 24 is here and it’s a “1er,” as Graeme calls a done-in-one (I’m sure other people do as well, but it was news to me). Since I’m a little behind there will probably be two of these this week (in part because I think the one after this is an exceptionally strong little entry into our catalog), but after that it should be one solid chunk–sometimes an hour, sometimes a little more–making your weekly dose of Scottish Guy & Laughing Guy that much more digestible.

Anyhoo.  Right here, right now, you can listen to S.G. & L.G. discuss Bagley, Spidey, Sammy, Benjy and more:

Wait, What? Ep. 24.1: Candyman, Candyman, Candyman!

It’s also available on Itunes (sooner or later–Itunes, what is up with that?).

[Also, I just got an email from a listener this morning–is anyone else having problems downloading ep. 23.2 from Itunes?  If so, would you mind either shooting me an email or dropping a note in the comments?  Thanks!]

  1. I downloaded 23.2 on iTunes okay – I think it took me a couple of tries, though.

  2. Downloaded 23.2 via iTunes yesterday, but it took cancelling my subscription, deleting previous podcasts and resubscribing at least twice before I was able to. And as of this moment, episode 24 isn’t showing up either.

  3. Dang it. Thanks for letting me know, you guys.

As I recall, I had a small goof with the RSS feed and it’s possible it may have gummed up the works for current subscribers. I downloaded ep. 23.2 this morning though it took me two tries and I’m not a current subscriber (since the feed keeps dropping me for unlistened eps.

That said, I think iTunes is being much slower updating the feed since the first of the year–what used to update in 20 minutes now takes six hours or more. The goal had been to update the feed last night but the new ep. didn’t get mixed properly…

Thanks for your patience and anyone else who’s having problems, please lemme know… Gracias!

  4. Hey Guys
I am streaming off your website and it wont buffer passed 4:45…Is this happening to anyone else who streams? Thanks keep up the good work guys I really love your podcast!!!

  5. No sign of 24.1 on Itunes and my attempt to download slammed to a halt at 6%. Sorry about the technical difficulties; thanks for all your hard work!

  6. 24.1 downloaded for me this afternoon when I tried. It wasn’t downloading this morning and I kept getting an error message, but it all seems to have worked whatever out of its system now. For me anyway. Looking forward to listening.

  7. The Fake AP Stylebook comes out April 5th (it’s called WRITE MORE GOOD)

  8. Just tried again, and still no 23.2 or 24.1

  9. via iTunes, that is.

  10. Argh, we’re definitely getting all kinds of replies all over the map.

Dasbender: 23.2 and 24.1 are currently on Itunes–I can see them when I go to our page. The feed itself may not be updating for those subscribed to it, maybe? I don’t know if deleting the feed from iTunes and re-subscribing will help or not.

I’ll try to look into it tomorrow when I get the opportunity–I’m worried some screwball formatting from me earlier may be causing problems for long-term subscribers and I need to look into how that might be fixable…

Thanks for your patience, everyone, and again, my apologies for whatever is going on.

  11. I just deleted every episode of “Wait, What?” from my iTunes library, went back into the iTunes store and re-subscribed to the podcast. I’m still only getting the following error:

“There was a problem downloading “Wait, What?”. An unknown error occurred (8006). Please check that the URL is correct and the connection to the network is active and try again.”

Obviously, my connection to the network is working fine or I couldn’t comment here :)

  12. To verify my problem, I went back into the iTunes store and tried to directly download episode 23.2 (24.1 isn’t even showing up in the store for me) rather than subscribing, and I got the same error.

  13. I was able to download 23.2, but 23.1 has been problematic and now it tells me the 8006 error. Look forward to it getting fixed!

  14. Dan & Dasbender: Can you guys try again and let me know? I was getting a similar error when I tried it from my wife’s laptop, went in and massaged some lines of the feed and it seems to work there now.

Feel free to send me an email at pig [dot] latin AT gmail [dot] com to let me know.

Again, thanks for everyone’s patience! Fingers crossed, this has taken care of things…

  15. 23.2 wasn’t a problem when I got it last week. It took me a bunch of tries to get 24.1 (and I even went to another computer to give it a shot) but it seems to be working now. I didn’t get an error message, the download just started and stopped like a car stalling — but without the huge mechanic fees just to tell me that it needs new plugs.

  16. Everything’s working fine now! Both missing episodes now downloaded along with “Wake, What?”

  17. Everythings works fine for me now too. Thanks for getting it resolved.

  18. Works for me now, Jeff. Thanks a lot for fixing it!

  19. Though I am a little behind, I wanted to let you know that I greatly enjoy running on the treadmill while listening to your podcast. It’s incredibly boring, but your conversations take my mind away from the drudgery of being a hamster on a plastic track.
