  1. Daredevil #10.1:
I’m still not sure what the point of the point issues is, but this is a good book so I’m happy to have more of it!

    OMAC #8:
The previous issue was amusing Kirby fan-service but also felt like filler. I’d like to see some resolution of… something… this issue, but I don’t expect it.

  2. Only one single issue for me this week, Fatale #4. Still haven’t read the last two issues though. No real reason. They’re just sitting there on my coffee table, waiting patiently to be picked up. Soon…

That second volume of the Fourth Omnibus is coming home with me too and I couldn’t be happier to have it.

Seeing Daredevil #10.1 on the list makes me glad I eventually decided to drop the book. It was the last Marvel comic I was buying, and it’s a really great comic, but between the .1 issue and the upcoming crossover with two other books I didn’t want to buy or read, I figured I had all the excuse necessary to drop it and be done with Marvel altogether.

  3. Still not me!

  4. I finally broke down and ordered the new ADVENTURE TIME from a comic shop listed on Atomic Avenue. I could have bought it digitally, but damn if some of this “we comic shops are here to help you” talk isn’t starting to sink in a little. ^_^

DAREDEVIL 10.1 – Damn you, Marvel. I’ll buy it, but a book *just* came out!

FATALE 4 – I bought the first 3 issues and read them all in one go. I’ll get this one, too, because I enjoyed them.

HELL YEAH 2 – I liked the first issue! I might be the only one. If so, then it’s not the first time.

MUDMAN 3 – Come on Pittsburgh comic shops, I know if any comic shops in the country will come through any carry this, it will be you guys, right? Right?

  5. ACTION COMICS #8 – Yay!
    AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #683 – Yay!
    ANIMAL MAN #8 – Yay!
    DAREDEVIL #10.1 – Khoi! Pham!
    FATALE #4 – Yay!

GLAMOURPUSS #24 – Last issue he took umbrage at Stan Drake’s wife calling Stan by his last name! What’s next?

GREEN ARROW #8 – Still on the fence.

HAWK AND DOVE #8 – Goodbye Rob Liefeld.

HELL YEAH #2 – I’ll give it time to grow.

JUSTICE LEAGUE INTERNATIONAL #8 – This book went nuts a couple of issues back. The whole ‘UN super-team’ set up seems to have gone out the window.

KIRBY GENESIS #6 – I’ll have to re-read the lot.

    MUDMAN #3 – Yay!

OMAC #8 – Oh man, already canceled?

SKULLKICKERS #13 – Good to see this back.

SUPREME #63 – This should be a treat.

SWAMP THING #8 – He’s the Swamp Thing again!

VENOM #15 – I think this book has now had more issues tying directly to other books than issues on it’s own (Spider-Island, Circle OF Four, Secret Avengers) so it better be good or I’m gone.

    WOLVERINE AND X-MEN #8 – Yay!

I’ll be way too broke after that haul, but I’d also like to get:
FLEX MENTALLO MAN OF MUSCLE MYSTERY DLX HC
JACK KIRBYS FOURTH WORLD OMNIBUS TP VOL 02
LEGENDS OF THE DARK KNIGHT JIM APARO HC

  6. Very big week for me

AVENGERS VS. X-MEN #1 (OF 12) – Well, this is it! After months of build-up, the big summer event finally begins, and…I already read this issue! Thank you, LCS I’m not saying outloud! It was surprisingly good, shows a lot of promise, has great artwork, and Bendis won’t be writing the next half dozen issues, so I’m feeling really positive about this so far! Can’t wait til everybody gets their hands on it this week so we can talk about it, that’s really half the fun of these events. We do have an AvX thread, right? I liked the Schism one last year.

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #683 – I’m kinda LOL about that new Spidey outfit, but this issue promises Spidey and the Avengers fighting the Sinister Six, with Stefano Casselli on artwork. It was like it was made just for me.

WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN #8 – This is still one of Marvel’s best books, and I expect the same kind of balance between strong character work and comic book wackiness the series has provided so far. And did I mention Bachalo is back!? Because that’s kinda important.

DAREDEVIL #10.1 – I’m not a big fan of the Khoi Pham artwork for this, but he’s only drawing two issues, so eh. We get an issue with Daredevil every week this month, so I hope you guys picking this up plan on getting Avenging Spider-Man and Punisher this month as well, it’s a small crossover story between the three. Got a great creative team though, so it should be pretty fun.

VENOM #15 – As much I enjoyed the Tony Moore-drawn insanity of Hell taking over Las Vegas, it’s nice to get back to the main storyline Remender was doing. There’s something about following a character from the very beginning, to have read all his issues, from the main series here, Secret Avengers, and his appearances in Carnage USA. I’m just that much more invested in Flash and his strange, disturbing relationship with Venom, and how it effects him and his loved ones. There’s a lot of ideas and characters Remender has been building with in the year or so he’s been on the book, and it’s all about to explode in the “Savage Six” story arc coming soon, but this seems to be the calm before the storm. A good jumping on point, if you’re interested, I imagine.

CASANOVA: AVARITIA #3 (OF 4) – I think it’s been a couple months since the last issue, but I really don’t seem to mind. Every issue of Casanova is almost always the best book of the month, you can’t rush genius, baby. This really may be the best volume of Casanova yet. It’s so clearly auto-biographical for Fraction, he pours himself into every page, but it’s so much more then that, too. It’s cool, it’s funny, it’s weird, it’s brilliant, it’s pop comics.

FLEX MENTALLO: MAN OF MUSCLE MYSTERY – THE DELUXE EDITION HC – Oh. My. GOD.

    FINALLY.

I WILL OWN THIS AND CHERISH IT FOREVER.

Flash by Geoff Johns Omnibus vol. 2 is really tempting. I wish it included Ignition, because I really don’t care to buy the rest of his run after that. I think this is really some of the best Flash comics around. Breezy, accessible, fun superhero comics.

  8. Mr. Brian Hibbs may well still be ridin’ the rails and drinkin’ soup from a tin cup but I’m looking forward to:

    ACTION COMICS #8
(Wow, that was a totally smooth way to introduce his new costume! It’s a good job Brainiac didn’t put an example of each planet’s lingerie on top of the jars. Or maybe he did!?!)
    AMERICAN VAMPIRE #25
(See the ‘50s? Awesome, huh? What about *Vampires* in the ‘50s – CHILL!!)
    ANIMAL MAN #8
(I like the supporting turn from Disney’s The Cat From Outer Space.)
    CASANOVA AVARITIA #3
(Me, I buy it for the art, so sue me! (No, don’t.))
    CREEPY COMICS #8
(Last issue I totally messed my pants. Nothing to do with the comic, I’m just lazy. Anyway, I like anthologies.)
    DAREDEVIL #10.1
(Hanging in there past the stealth double shipping and tie-in bullgubbins for Chris Samnee.)
    FATALE #4
(It’s okay but I’m really hoping for a Jess Nevins essay on Guy N Smith at some point.)
    GLAMOURPUSS #24
(Dave Sim can READ DEAD COMIC ARTIST’S MINDS! And apparently their wives were *awful*! Surprise!)
    KIRBY GENESIS #6
(And on the Sixth Day Jack Kirby co-created the Marvel Universe. On The Seventh Day he received no credit. John saw this and it was not good.)
    MUDMAN #3
(C’mon, Paul Grist keep that schedule up! Great fun, great art, great to see it on a couple of folks’ lists!)
    OMAC #8
    (Oh Mercy, Abruptly Cancelled!)
    SUPREME #63
(Crikey! What’s all this then, eh? Good day, ALAN MOORE! Jolly good day, ALAN MOORE! Blimey! Pip! Pip!)
    SWEET TOOTH #32
(Well, that was a slow build but now there’s gonna be hair on the walls!)

    Books / Mags / Stuff
FLEX MENTALLO MAN OF MUSCLE MYSTERY DLX HC
(I WILL buy this at some point as it is, in fact, even better than everyone says it is. And people say it is pretty great!)

Remember, chocolate eggs are good but not as good as – COMICS!!!

  9. Big week here too.

CREEPY COMICS #8 – Jeff Parker, Doug Moench, Rick Geary, Colleen Coover, Kelly Jones, Richard Corben and Kyle Baker. If that doesn’t get you top part with $4.99, then I got nuthin’.

DAREDEVIL #10.1 – grumble, mumble. So Marvel has a book which is generating trememndous goodwill from fans, and acclaim for its creative team/teams…..and burns off that goodwill and dilutes juggles up the creative teams in a fairly transparent cash grab.

DEJAH THORIS & WHITE APES OF MARS #1 – speaking of brand dilution. But until science can find a cure, my ERB completist impulse will have me buying at least the first issue.

MANHATTAN PROJECTS #1 VAR CVR 2ND PTG – yeah, missed it.

MEN OF WAR #8 – For GI Robot.

    NIGHT FORCE #2 – spooky

OMAC #8 – de-mactivated. But what a fun, crazed trip it has been. And hey, did anyone think it was going to run for years and years? This may be one we are glad ended on a reasonably high note.

SWAMP THING #8 – last issue had me picking it up, reading a few pages, and drifting off, to return later. That happened about four times, and I’m still not sure if I ever finished it. Not a terribly good sign.

THE LONE RANGER #4 – this, on the other hand, is tight. It may be the new “slow, widescreen’ storytelling all the kids are raving about, but its paced well, and keeps its focus.

And wow, guess I missed my chance to sell my pristine DUPLICATE set of Flex Mentallo on “teh ebay” and buy that country home. Have fun all you kids reading this for the first time. Prepare your minds: Old Timey Grant Morrison may just blow them.

Enjoy your funny books and grab some family time.
