  1. Batman #4:
A classic run unfolding before your very eyes! Hope it maintains its quality.

    Daredevil #7:
Another classic run unfolding… you get the idea. I like the larger, possibly long-running, story arc element introduced last issue. I hope this book can maintain its swashbuckling tone and light touch while also integrating a bigger story.

    Incredible Hulk #3:
The art had some wonky stuff last issue that’s hopefully fixed now. I hope it goes in the direction of being big kooky fun and doesn’t get too bogged down in Banner-Hulk psychological angst (which I find tiresome).

    Justice League #4:
Big classic 4-color conventional superhero fun! Well, ‘conventional’ sounds like an insult: maybe ‘classic’ or ‘in a classic style’ would better express it. Point is, nothing innovative or groundbreaking here, just solid superhero stuff which I look forward to every month.

  2. BATMAN #4: Second best title of The New 52, right after Batwoman. Scott Snyder is firmly a star.

WONDER WOMAN #4: Will stick with this as long as Cliff Chiang’s clean art graces the pages.

UNCANNY X-FORCE #19: Hoping Robbi Rodriguez can fill the huge shoes Jerome Opena just left with Dark Angel Saga. Best X-book currently offered by Marvel. Hoping Remender crosses this over with Secret Avengers when he takes over. Both covert squads of badass.

WOLVERINE & THE X-MEN #3: Feel like I might be buying this just on intertia already, wanting it to be really good. Didn’t feel the new Uncanny at all, so wanting to stick with at least one “core” X-book.

TALES DESIGNED TO THRIZZLE #7: Always a hoot from Michael Kupperman!

  3. AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #676 – I loves this book.

BATMAN #4 – I loves this book as well. My favourite of the Nu52, I think.

BATMAN INCORPORATED LEVIATHAN STRIKES #1 – I love this as well.

DAREDEVIL #7 – You won’t believe it, but this book? I love it.

GLAMOURPUSS #22 – This book I don’t love, but I can’t stay away from. I actually got it last week. If anyone has been staying away because the fashion satire was kinda crap, this issue has none of it apart from the cover – all comics.

INCREDIBLE HULK #3 – I’ll check the buzz and give it a flip to decide. (Because Australia is in the future, we have to get our comics on Thursday, meaning we can read the reviews before hitting the shop).

JUSTICE LEAGUE #4 – I hope there some punching and exploding this issue!

RED HOOD AND THE OUTLAWS #4

SUPERGIRL #4 – As with most books, I’d prefer if the series picked up the pace, but otherwise it’s going pretty good.

    THUNDER AGENTS VOL 2 #2 (OF 6)

VENOM #11 – I’m still kind of shocked I made it through my teens without buying a Venom book, but collect one now.

VERTIGO RESURRECTED SGT ROCK HELL HARD PLACE #2 – He’s not Ric Estrada, apparently, but that Kubert sure can draw!

WONDER WOMAN #4 – This book rocks. Did you know if you hunt around the internet, you can find people complaining about the changes to WW’s origin/parentage. There were people who gave a shit about her origin/parentage!

  4. BATMAN #4 – Owls! Ben Lipman loves this book, and I do too.

DAREDEVIL #7 – yep, a classic this is. Awesome coloring last issue really let the lines through.

HELLBLAZER #286 – This Man, This Raincoat! I’ve seen grumbling about this, but I don’t get it: we have horror, we have comedy and we have John taking the piss out of lesser mortals. Definitely worth my pound sterling, in’nit!.

    KEVIN SMITH BIONIC MAN #5 – do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do.

SUPERGIRL #4 – only started with #3, but that was good enough to get me back for this. Beautiful art, supporting clean storytelling.

WONDER WOMAN #4 – is very nice indeed. I am not as fussed by the origin as some, mostly as it seems a few degrees of deviation and something in line with mythology, and not a change for change’s sake.

Have a good Festivus everyone! See you on the other side.

  5. Corey, Re: Bionic Man:

    It’s ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch.

  6. BATMAN #4
    BATMAN INCORPORATED LEVIATHAN STRIKES #1

I am spoiled for Batmanness this week.

    DAREDEVIL #7

Or maybe I’m just spoiled in general. After the joy of Matt’s “I’m Not Daredevil” sweater, what OTHER Christmas treats lurk within its pages?

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES ONGOING #5

This has been a little slow, but I have to say, it’s still nice having an ongoing TMNT book again. Even better that in a lot of ways it’s an all-new take, using elements of earlier versions but not beholden to them. Love how they built up Raphael’s loner streak, and curious how this version of the character will clash with his brothers now that they’ve been reunited.

    UNCANNY X-FORCE #19 XREGG

Still haven’t gotten to read #18. Hoping I can fix that this week; I’ve heard it played out about the only way it could have, which — well, sure, but given Remender & Opena, I’m sure they pulled it off masterfully and in a way that’s totally going to tear me up inside.

  7. Even the birth of The Christ Child cannot stop the unceasing flow of COMICS!!!

Unless I receive an Ipad for Christmas I will be reading the following on olde worlde paper (if I do receive an Ipad I will be intrigued to know where the money came from, and that’s a festive fact!):

    BATMAN INCORPORATED LEVIATHAN STRIKES #1

    BATMAN ODYSSEY VOL 2 #3
(Shocked by his conclusion that “Santa” is an anagram of “Satan” Batman takes the war against crime to Lapland inexplicably accompanied by a dino-man, an ambulatory truffle and a possum which can see the future (but can’t tell anyone what it sees because no one can speak possum). Don’t miss Neal Adam’s sure to be classic, “Silent Night, IN THE FACE!!! IN THE FACE!!!”)

    DAREDEVIL #7
(My Lady of perpetual Suffering reads this and badgers me as to when the next one is out. Given her total disinterest in the comical periodical world this is pretty much a Christmas Miracle! My thanks to the creative team of this wonderful comic for what I call “This Missus, This Fan!”)

    DARK HORSE PRESENTS #7
(Gotsta have some Howard Victor Chaykin at Christmas! Keep your eye on him round that egg nog, Mrs Chaykin!)

    GLAMOURPUSS #22
(That’s good to know, Ben Lipman! I buy it anyway but at least I know I won’t have to skip the fashion stuff.)

    HELLBLAZER #286
JOHN CARTER A PRINCESS OF MARS #4

    PUNISHERMAX #20
(In which Frank is visited by the ghosts of the Past, Present and Future but shoots each of them in the face before he can find out what that weird sh*t was all about. In a typically sexually inert scene Elektra stuffs a turkey up Kingpin’s bum and there is a sad flashback to the war. Oh, and a murdered kid’s corpse is kind of lying about because this is serious stuff, pal. Yes! It’s all here in “Not Cancelled – Coming To A Natural Conclusion (Despite What The Author Said About Having Plans After This Arc)!”)

    TINY TITANS #47
    (Aw, yeah!)

    WONDER WOMAN #4
(Recent revelations cause tensions to run high in the WW household this Christmas but things reach a peak on Boxing Day when Zeus is accosted by the Child Support Agency for non payment of child support. Don’t miss “Deadbeat Dad – Deadbeat God”!)

Oh, such a merry Christmas I wish you all!

May it be filled with – COMICS!!!

  8. So: How did we do the pentultimate week of 2012…

BATMAN #4 – was pushing up to EXCELLENT for me. Yeah, even with it being a flashback issue. Mostly on characterization (something I sort of don’t get in Tec); Bruce was not the snarling bastiche of the Goddman Batman but a thinker. Who may be getting out thunk….

DAREDEVIL #7 – Another rare EXCELLENT. And a great seasonal story I bet we’ll see reprinted for years to come, like O’Neill’s and Adams’ “Silent Night”

HELLBLAZER #286 – wrapped things up with a curse, a twist and a kick in the head. All in all VERY GOOD stuff, which might have suffered by the EXCELLENT quality of the Hellblazer Annual I read right before it. Save your $5 on the fruitcake and read the Annual folks, that’s classic stuff from Milligan and especially Bisley. That bridge, brrrrr.

WONDER WOMAN #4 – VERY GOOD laying of more groundwork while the story continues apace. That is really hard to do, and Azz and Chiang are doing it effortlessly. If this was any other book but WW the internets would be ablaze.

KEVIN SMITH BIONIC MAN #5 and SUPERGIRL #4 were not to be found at my local, so they’ll have to wait for next week.

Wishing you all the best Savage Holidays for you and yours.
