  1. Woo hoo! PROPHET! And…that’s it.

I’m happy to see a new issue of RASL’s coming out, but I’m going trade only at this point. The long gaps just aren’t worth it…especially because I usually toss my floppies out or give them away. (Giving them away is a hassle, too, because very few people I know will even open a comic, let alone try reading one.)

  2. ALL STAR WESTERN #6 – This book has slipped into dangerous territory with me after hearing Hex will be in Gotham until past #9.

AQUAMAN #6 – I can’t wait to see what happens after the cliffhanger last issue, did everyone see it? After being stranded in the desert, Aquaman gets home and finds a note from his wife saying “Gone to town to get dog food”!!! OMG!
No lie, the last panel was a close up of that note.

FLASH #6 – Not much to say about this, as it’s comic book perfection.

JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK #6 – Slightly annoyed Milligan is leaving, as I wouldn’t have stayed through this arc if it weren’t written by him, but I think Lemire might mix it up a bit, so I’ll stay. It’s ok, just not as good as Milligan can be.

    MORNING GLORIES #16

NO PLACE LIKE HOME #1 – Looks like some 90′s Vertigo from the previews. Art has a nice, slight, Duncan Fegredo feel.

PROPHET #22 – I have no idea what will happen this issue, and that’s pretty cool.

SUPERMAN #6 – I’ll miss Perez on this book. I think he’s done a much better job than the critical consensus seems to think – it’s been so down on him that despite the fact I dig it, I was shocked to see it’s a top ten book.

TEEN TITANS #6 – This arc’s ran two issues longer than it had the juice for, so I’m looking forward to seeing the team finally become a team, and move on from there.

WOLVERINE AND X-MEN #6 – I hated it, but now I dig it.

“Next week, if things go like I think they will, this list is going to look kinda different…”
Way to sound all ominous, guy! Unless it’s because of good things, in which case, I guess, way to sound all optimistic guy!
    (What happens next week?)

  3. Aquaman #6:
My kids’ favorite comic, and I like it too. You make a funny point, Ben Lipman, but since my girls like Mera, they were way excited about #5′s ending. I’m sorta hoping for change-of-pace-quirky-funny. Not sure that sort of thing is in this artistic team’s blood though…

And no Justice League #6. And a cryptic comment from Hibbs… I fear for comics!

  4. DARK HORSE PRESENTS #9: Really enjoying The Massive from Wood & Donaldson, but $8 for just that story is tough. Glad to see the Pope story and a couple others in this issue.

PROPHET #22: I think I actually enjoyed the debut of GLORY more than this title, but it’s still great.

20TH CENTURY BOYS VOL.19: “The Watchmen of Japan.” I love this book about political pop sci-fi in the post-WWII reconstructionism of Japan.

I recently dropped these titles, but will give them a flip:

SECRET AVENGERS #23: Art was ok last ish, but really not feeling Remender’s script. Didn’t like the team, don’t like Hawkeye as leader, etc.

UNCANNY X-FORCE #22: Remender’s script ok I guess, but anyone who isn’t Jerome Opena has a hard time convincing me to support this book.

  5. Brian, have you checked out the Wally Wood book yet? As phenomenal as people are saying? As big?

  6. Most of the nu52 I’m still digging are out this week (ALL STAR WESTERN, I VAMPIRE, JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK). Hanging with THE SAVAGE HAWKMAN as I kinda like the current Gentleman Ghost story (though I’ll be jumping ship once Leifeld comes on). Snagging the new BULLETPROOF COFFIN, DHP, and PROPHET. And I’m psyched for the AMPNEY CRUCIS: VILE BODIES trade (occult detective weirdness in the Mighty 2000AD Manner!).

  7. Brian, always appreciate the heads-up! But what has happened to the Atlas line? The most recent book I have from them is Atlas Unified #1.

  8. MORNING GLORIES #16
    RED SONJA #64
    RED SONJA WITCHBLADE #1

  9. So….Mister Hibbs AND the Aztecs think the world may end in 2012. “Interesting…..”

Anjyways, if the Comipocalyse can stay away for 24 hours, here is what I will be trading my canned goods for on Wednesday:

ALL STAR WESTERN #6 – While I don’t at all disagree with Ben Lipman, Moritatès Sipirt and Palmioti and GreyÈs Jonah Hex were books I re-read this holiday weekend. If any creatorts deservbe a chance to let me see what they can do, they are it. Stick.

    AMERICAN VAMPIRE #24 – It’s Happy Days…with Vampires!

ARCHIE #630 (ARCHIE MEETS KISS PT 4 ) – I secretly believe than when the Francavilla covers are assembled it opens a portal to HELL!!

I VAMPIRE #6 – another recent re-read. These are just so strong.

JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK #6 – this totally has left me wnating to love it, but still feeling flat. I dunno.

PROPHET #22 – It’s four weeks after issue #21 cracked the internet in HALF! Wonder if the readership suffered a similar fate. Good stortyelling, and some nice hooks.

SPIDER-MAN #23 – yeah, buying it for the MODOK.

SUPERMAN #6 – as usual, I also agree with Ben above. Why the hate! This is a perfectly fine Superman story told much better than most have been told in frecent years. I won’t be staying around, but the level of animus at this book is really quite undeserved.

I will probbaly give Flash the chance to jumpo ton the buy pile, as in re-read of issues #1 and #2, it is prtty strong stuff. Manapul, you may have dragged me back.

But WHAT is Mister Hibbs’ secret…WHAT!!

  10. @Corey (Ottawa): I did a re-read of Hex last month, and it’s a good book, I just think the Gotham setting is holding it back, and y’know, it’s called ‘All Star Western’ – spending it’s first year in an east coast city just seems weird.
As for Superman, whilst I agree with you on this book (except for jumping off!), I can’t abide the rubbishing of the past few years of stories. Except for the horrific mess the visit from Krypton was – did anyone last the distance? – Superman’s been in good hands. The Johns/Busiek double team was rivaled only by the Cornell/Roberson one.
Heck, there were some real duds in the mix, (shout out to Chuck Austen and JMS!), but I think Superman had a pretty good decade.

  11. JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK #6
Ok, set the table! I’ll see if I want to eat.

    PROPHET #22
I need that silly putty thing to do two cool tricks in this issue and I’m golden.

NAOKI URASAWA 20TH CENTURY BOYS GN VOL 19
I’ll either start buying this at volume 1 (Colin at TooBusyThinking pointed it out to me) or pull the trigger on the last Starman Omni – thus completing my collection.

Pretty dire week for me. Nu52 has not gripped my heart, you know?

  12. Alonso:

    Yes, it looks GREAT!

    Jim:

Not a clue — we sold zero copies of any of them past issue #1, so I dropped the line….
