  1. BLACK PANTHER: MwoF (Nice!)

If only NEW ULTIMATES vs ULTIMATE AVENGERS was a buck cheaper…

  2. SUICIDE SQUAD VOL 01, here I come!

  3. “DC COMICS PRESENTS GREEN LANTERN FEAR ITSELF #1″

    Someone at DC is clever.

  4. Well, you asked:

ALL NEW BATMAN THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD #4
(Hey, it’s the ever underrated Rick Burchett!)
    CASANOVA GULA #2
    (It’s okay.)
    DC UNIVERSE LEGACIES #9
(And then there was that time Superman dressed to the left instead of to the right. And all we could do was wait and pray.)
    DOC SAVAGE #11
(This ish! Doc takes Evil aside and discusses its woeful BMI!)
    INCOGNITO BAD INFLUENCES #3
    (Doc Savage haz b00bz. LOL!)
    JOHN BYRNE NEXT MEN #3
    (It’s certainly John Byrne.)
    KNIGHT & SQUIRE #5
    (Crikey!)
    NORTHLANDERS #37
    (Classy stuff this one.)
    PUNISHERMAX #10
(Delayed due to Steve Dillon being coerced into actually drawing a background that consists of more than a vertical line and a small table with a lamp on? Perhaps.)
    THUNDER AGENTS #4
(These Hunky Ubermensch Need Dedicated Erudite Readers. Trans: Please don’t cancel this.)
    WARLORD OF MARS #4
(So I got a thing about pulp nonsense, okay? I’m not proud about it. Looking forward to the Gil Kane reprints!)
    WOLVERINE #5.1
(A great new jumping on point for new readers or a great way to get the same old readers to buy two issues in one month? U-Decide!)

Comics! They look good to ME!

  5. AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #654 BIG
BATMAN AND ROBIN #20 – I’m nervous about this issue. The books been on a dream run in my opinion, one that outlasted Morrison.
I hope it keeps it up, though both creators will have to lift their game a bit.
DC COMICS PRESENTS GREEN LANTERN FEAR ITSELF #1
DC COMICS PRESENTS WONDER WOMAN #1
DC UNIVERSE LEGACIES #9 (OF 10)
    FLASH #9 (FLASHPOINT)
JUSTICE LEAGUE GENERATION LOST #19 (BRIGHTEST DAY)
    KNIGHT & SQUIRE #5 (OF 6)
    SUPERMAN #708 – It’s a maybe.
Roberson did good last issue, but it was still Grounded, and anything that reminds me of that is tainted.
Thank goodness they stopped Essential Superman Encyclopedia an arc before hand.
    THUNDER AGENTS #4

FLASH DASTARDLY DEATH OF THE ROGUES HC – I’ve got the issues and prob won’t get it this week… but the art is so nice, even if the revelations/resolution felt like they were from a bad silver age story.

    Michael Aronson:
    “Someone at DC is clever.”

Y’know, as it’s DC, I’m almost more likely to believe it was sheer accident.

On the other hand, it would be great if DC, as the actual under-dog of the two, started using some of Marvel’s more childish tactics against them.
If only to watch Tom B sulk, and then deny sulking when Marvel’s own efforts are brought up, to then forget they were brought up, and go back to being loudly wounded.
“When Marvel did it, it was for fun. DC are trying to confuse readers, and should be man enough to admit that they think we’ve got the better ideas on this one.”

  6. Psyched for Tank Girl: Bad Wind Rising issue 2…but it is apparently not coming out this feb week either.

  7. “On the other hand, it would be great if DC, as the actual under-dog of the two, started using some of Marvel’s more childish tactics against them.”

The cover needs to proclaim, MARVEL’S EVENT OF 2011 STARTS HERE!

  8. It’s a good week indeed.

    ADVENTURE COMICS #523
(Jiminez is born to draw group books; Levitz was born to write them)
ALL NEW BATMAN THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD #4
    (what John K-UK said!)
    BATGIRL #18
    (remains likeable and fun)
    NEW AVENGERS #9
(A mighty fine preview that was. Deodato AND Chaykin? I’m there)
    NORTHLANDERS #37
(a book I don’t hesitate to pass to people. Sophisticated Viking Suspense)
UNWRITTEN #22 (I’m wobbly on this)

    Probably buy:

WARLORD OF MARS #4 (quit the multiple covers, already!)
HEROES FOR HIRE #3 (let’s ditch the decompression and get the book moving! Street level should not mean ‘stuck in traffic’. Future solicits appear promising, so I’ll likely nibble….)

  9. Say, Corey (Ottawa) I’d missed Howard Victor Chaykin gracing the pages of that particular comic. Cheers!

(Alas, having checked the solicit, I must apologise to Mr. Howard Victor Chaykin for I shall not be purchasing it. It isn’t you, Howard, really! See you on the other side, Mr. Chaykin. You’re still my huckleberry!)

Speaking of Howard Victor Chaykin I thought maybe I could mention to te Intereweb at large that his PULP FANTASTIC series (3 issues, DC/Vertigo, 2000)is an amazing high point in Rick Burchett’s artistic career. Well worth seeking out via E-bay etc as it’s never been collected. Just throwing that out there for no real reason other than no one has burst in and wrestled me to the ground to stop me. PULP FANTASTIC – it’s worth a punt.
