  1. BATMAN, BATMAN BEYOND, the DREDD megazine, DHP, IRON MAN, CATWOMAN.

And I’m tempted to pick up DPD DOKTORMENTOR JAIL BABE SURGEON for the title alone.

  2. I can’t help but wonder if I could talk my Home Depot superiors into letting me rock the Wonder Woman apron in place of my orange one.

  3. Batman #7
This remains a solidly good comic, though I thought the Rocky-like turning point for Batman last issue was less than satisfying. (I’ve been getting my ass kicked for a while, but you know what?, I’m going to just start kicking his ass now instead! Why didn’t I think of that sooner? Because a picture of my grandfather reminded me that I can kick ass! Adrian!!!!) Anyway, I’m still very interested to see where this goes.

    Batman Beyond Unlimited #2
My kids liked the first issue of this, and they like the show. Oh heck, I liked it too. And a good value for the money!

    DC Universe Presents #7
The second ish of the Challengers arc. I didn’t really like the first one at all (pacing was bad, story seems muddled, and even Ordway wasn’t so great) but the arc is short and at 2.99 it’s enough to stick around and see if it turns into something good, or reads better as a set. A good example of the 2.99 vs 3.99 breakpoint – if it were 3.99 I’d definitely be off.

    Justice League #7
God, that last issue was awful. But again, my kids like this title because, hey, it’s all those superheroes! Sorta looking forward to the Shazam backup, does that start this month?

    Prophet
On the strength of the raves from THIS BOARD, I’m going to see if I can pick up the last issue or three and give it a go. So if I don’t like it – I blame all of you.

  4. BATMAN #7
Man, look at all those owls. Capullo keeps me keeping on.

    BATMAN BEYOND UNLIMITED #2
    BREEEEEEEYFOGLE!

BPRD HELL ON EARTH LONG DEATH #2
That weird embodiment of rage that Irving made look so cool in Xombi showed up last issue and killed everything. It was awesome.

    INFINITE VACATION #4 (OF 5)
“This is still a thing?” Started buying this when I was still under the contact high of that Spencer written Jimmy Olsen series of back-ups from…a year and a half ago?

    PROPHET #23
    Yes, and again.

    ROCKETEER ADVENTURES 2 #1 (OF 4)
In my mind, the assignment to do a Rocketeer pin-up came at the same time Art Adams was doing that Wolverine cover he never finished. He was just like, “Eh, let’s call it done! On to the babes!”

    WONDER WOMAN #7
    Cliff Chiang? Please?

MICHAEL KALUTA SKETCHBOOK SERIES SC VOL 01
Maybe – I feel like I should look at this.

  5. AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #682 – This should be good, even if Spider-Island feels like it just finished. I hope Doc Ock survives!

BATMAN #7 – I hope Capullo draws him doing the Batsui. Owls fear the Batsui!

DOMINIQUE LAVEAU VOODOO CHILD #1 – The title makes me think of early Vertigo books I didn’t like, but I’ll give it a try.

HAUNT #22 – Nathan Fox rules!

INFINITE VACATION #4 (OF 5) – I’ll get it, but I’ll wait another year for #5 before I read it!

JUSTICE LEAGUE #7 – Even I thought #6 was a dog, and I enjoyed #5! Oddly excited to see the modern day league.

NEAR DEATH #6 – This never shows up on Brian’s list, but I hope that doesn’t mean he doesn’t order it, because this book is awesome. Faerber and Guglielmini are knocking it out of the park – this is my fave read of the week when it comes out.

    PROPHET #23 – Woo!

RED HOOD AND THE OUTLAWS #7 – My guilty pleasure.

SUPER DINOSAUR #9 – They have to team up with Squidious this issue to take on The Exile! SQUIDIOUS!

SUPERGIRL #7 – I enjoy this book when reading it, but I couldn’t tell you what happened last issue. Not sure if that’s good or bad…

    WONDER WOMAN #7 – It’s good.

NEAR DEATH #6 – This never shows up on Brian’s list, but I hope that doesn’t mean he doesn’t order it, because this book is awesome. Faerber and Guglielmini are knocking it out of the park – this is my fave read of the week when it comes out.

  7. I’ll also be grabbing – DC UNIVERSE PRESENTS #7, because I like the first issue. Would be easier to remember if it was called ‘Challengers Of The Unknown’.

  8. AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #682 – I am SO excited for this story, its almost comical. I’ve been waiting on a great Sinister Six comic since I was a little kid, and I think the creative team of Slott/Caselli/Ramos will be the ones to deliver. Can’t wait!

AVENGERS X-SANCTION #4 – I have no idea why I’m getting this. I kinda just want to see how it ends?

BATMAN #7 – I like this book. It’s not God’s gift to superhero comics the way a lot of people make it out to be, but it’s good. It’s also the only book I’m checking out from DC these days. The jumping-on point was also a good jumping off point, it seems.

INVINCIBLE IRON MAN #514 – 2011 was an mixed bag year for this book, but this “Demon” story has been great. Fraction/Larrocoa getting back to the main storyline they’ve been telling since the very beginning. It’s pretty impressive how many issues together these guys have been doing, and more often then not its a solid read(if pretty slow, and Larrocoa’s humans are lol from time to time). Rarely my favorite book of the week, but its almost always a dependable read.

PROPHET #23 – Chris “not that one, Rihanna” Brown above, I’m getting this and the last few issues because of the hype from around the comics blogsphere. My expectation that it’s gonna be a solid comic, that gets overhyped because its different and confident in its storytelling. Kinda like that BKV book that came out last week.

SUPERCROOKS #1 (OF 4) – I keep checking these things out because I secretly hope I’ll get the Mark Millar I loved from the late 90s-early 2000s, and it always ends in disappointment. I never learn though…I liked the preview enough, that’s a good sign, right?

UNCANNY X-MEN #9 – Gillen GETS the X-men, and he’s one of Marvel’s most unappreciated talents, but I can only check out the non-Greg Land issues. Even then, Pacheco aint what he used to be. The June solicts have DUSTIN WEAVER on-board though, so promising times ahead!

WOLVERINE #303 – This story arc should be better then it is, but the need to double ship at the last minute means we got two different artists doing the same story, sometimes switching mid-scene. Also, it’s pretty obvious that Sabretooth is only here because despite his many years on the book, Jason Aaron has never done a Wolverine/Sabretooth battle. He’s kinda just…hanging around, at this point. Despite that, I’m still enjoying it, in a “Yakuza bikers wielding chainsaws” kinda way, but I’m hoping this is a strong conclusion to the last real story arc of the great Jason Aaron run on Wolverine.

  9. ELEKTRA ASSASSIN PREM HC

What’s the betting line on the number of weeks before it’s out of print? I’ll guess 16.

  10. Wow, Infinite Vacation! I’ve actually moved house twice and raised a daughter through infancy since the first issue of this book came out. I’m absolutely certain that I’ll never find my old issues, so the only question is whether or not I’ll get the trade.

Are the Joe Casey Haunt issues any good? I find his stuff entertaining, but could give damn about the earlier run or the characters in this book.

  11. BATMAN #7 – I get this anyway, but…Ben Lipman, did you mean Bat-usi? If so, I also want to see Capullo’s version, because my version once won me the respect of a busload of drunk Canadians on a bar-hopping tour of Cancun. Thank you, Batusi!

BATMAN BEYOND UNLIMITED #2 – I forgot to pick up the 1st issue when it came out, so if my LCS still has it I may pick up both

DARKNESS #101 – I’ve never read any Darkness, but I’ll give it a look on the strength of David Hine coming on board as writer

DOMINIQUE LAVEAU VOODOO CHILD #1 – The free preview intrigued me enough to buy at least an issue

FABLES #115 – Still enjoying it

HELLBLAZER #289 – written by the Good Milligan of the North as opposed to the Bad Milligan of the NĂ¼52

JUSTICE LEAGUE #7 – Didn’t like the 1st issue. Others really didn’t like the last couple issues. So the Shazam backup may draw me in…or not

RAGEMOOR #1 – Corben’s a visionary artist, but I’ve always thought he needs Jan Strnad (Wow! Where’s he been?) to write his stuff. See also Jodorowsky and Moebius(RIP)

STEED AND MRS PEEL #3 (OF 6) – I read the 1st two parts of this, what, 20 years ago? So for me it’s the Grant Morrison comic I’m most looking forward to this year

SUPERCROOKS #1 (OF 4) – I agree with Jeremy on these seemingly endless Millar projects with their hot artists and “Gotcha!” concepts. So it’s a maybe

SIXTH GUN #20 – One of those low-selling indy books I think more people should read

WONDER WOMAN #7 – I’m usually never happy about seeing Tony Akins filling in on art, but his last 2 issues here kinda rocked. Cliff who?

  12. @Chris Brown – PROPHET is a weird, sci-fi heavy Conan type of book that relies heavily on art that makes familiar things seem queasy and a bit grotesque. The prose is kind of bare bones “I went here” and “I ate this. My stomach hurts.” sort of stuff.

For me, this week I’m making another special trip to look for PHOPHET and ADVENTURE TIME. I don’t have high hopes of finding ADVENTURE TIME in Atlanta, but you never know. I want to pick up that SAMMY THE MOUSE book, too.

  13. BATMAN #7 – There’s always a fine line in tearing Batman down about how far you can go before it becomes some Gotham mary-sue. One eyed unshaven, fleckle-mouthed Batman? Three issues is enough for him. Let’s put the pieces back together and be the World’s Greatest Detective.

HELLBLAZER #289 – a great run, even if last issue seemed a bit slight.

JUSTICE LEAGUE #7 – not a book I have been reading, but Gene Ha is an artists I will pick up every time.

PROPHET #23 – a boy and his lizard dog.

ROCKETEER ADVENTURES 2 #1 – BOOK OF THE WEEK.

SUPERGIRL #7 – honestly and truly, my favorite of the new 52

TINY TITANS #50 – bye guys. Its been fun. For youngest daughter and dad too. Aw yeah, Titans.

WONDER WOMAN #7 – Chiang is back, although the Pistols of Eros (a Love Gun, perhaps) will need some selling.

YOUNG JUSTICE #14 – for oldest daughter and dad too.

LEGION, PLANET OF THE APES and GREEN LANTERN CORPS all desserve a good flip, and might jump to the buy pile. Surprised at the good word of mouth on ASM too, so probably worth a check. Anyone stick to the bitter end on LEGION/STAR TREK? I did not.

  14. Only PROPHET #23 for me this week. I dropped Batman after finding out it was going to $3.99. It’s a fun book, but it’s not “$4 fun”; nothing currently published by the Big 2 is in my opinion. Prophet might be $4 fun, but don’t tell Image that.

@Mike: The Joe Casey Haunt is solidly ok. I read the first two on loan from a friend. I like the art a lot – much more than I like the story, although I wonder if that’s because I never read the previous Kirkman/McFarlane issues. Interested to see where it goes, but not enough to drop my money on it just yet.
