  1. AVENGERS CHILDRENS CRUSADE #9 (OF 9) – finally.

HUNTRESS #6 (OF 6) – A good book. I’m not sure I’m going to like EARTH TWO as much as I liked this.

NIGHT FORCE #1 – Still remember buying the first one off the spinner rack. Maybe it’s Colan nostalgia, but I’m back for this one.

OMAC #7 – a second last OMACtivation, altough he is already showing up in JLI solicits.

SWAMP THING #7 – Hope we get to see that Swamp fella soon.

THE LONE RANGER #3 – continues to impress.

  2. ACTION COMICS, DEFENDERS, HUNTRESS, RED LANTERS, VILLAINS FOR HIRE – yes.

SWAMP THING – Kinda losing patience with it.

NIGHT FORCE – like Corey, I’m in it for the trip. Maybe I’ll get a Slurpee to drink while I enjoy it.

BATMAN: BIRTH OF THE DEMON – pretty sure I signed up for this as I’ve never read any of it.

  3. ACTION COMICS #7 – I do enjoy reading it, but boy has ths book lost it’s momentum.

    AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #681 – I just love it’s editor.

ANIMAL MAN #7 – Loving it. Not keen on the rot being across two books, but a family on the run from overwhelming evil works.

FATALE #3 – I need to re-read the first two issues as I can barely remember a single detail, but as it’s Bru & Phillips, I’m sure it’ll be good.

GREEN ARROW #7 – JT Krul and Jurgens/Giffen made this book good, so I imagine it’s going to be amazing with Nocenti!

HAWK AND DOVE #7 – This ish promises the revelation of a larger conspiracy involving the two heroes! I wonder if it will be like the one Sterling Gates was writing in the first four issues, that Liefeld abandoned with a rushed wrap-up in #5! I’ll get this through cancellation, and then I think I’m done with Liefeld.

HELL YEAH #1 – Glory was pretty good, so I’ve got hopes for this. Getting the feeling it may have a Millar influence from the title.

JUSTICE LEAGUE INTERNATIONAL #7 – It’d be on the brink with me, but I wanna see how OMAC fits in.

MANHATTAN PROJECTS #1 – I like Hickman much better at image.

OMAC #7 – He’s going to fight Superman this issue! I’m hoping for some “It’s real brother! Only it stands for peace – something you should dig – – but fast!” styled dialogue here. Nuts to everyone who didn’t buy this series!

SWAMP THING #7 – I know where Robson is coming from, but each issue is enjoyable, even if Snyder/Lemire are way more interested in the rot than anyone else.

VENOM #14 – I skipped the weekly crossover issues because they looked like drivel. Hopefully this comic will catch me up without relying on the recap page.

I’m dropping Defenders and Detective Comics. The tone of Defenders had won me over by #3, but the story was really bad. I’m sure they think it’s Gerber-esque, but it felt more Mackie-esque.
Detective Comics was good for a laugh when Daniels was going nuts, but a multi-part arc with a Penguin whose more boring than he used to be? Meh.

  4. I generally only buy trades now, so this is a big week for me – Hellboy Vol 12 and King City are collections I’ve been dying to read for ages.

  5. Another light week for me…

    OMAC #7:
You said it, Ben Lipman, nuts to the people who didn’t buy this book. Even last issue, with sub-standard fill-in art, was a blast. I’ll have to glance through JLI when he appears, though expectations are low.

  6. AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #681 – The editor is pretty w(h)acky, but this book is damn fun.

AVENGERS CHILDRENS CRUSADE #9 (OF 9) – FINALLY. Did you know the first issue came out in June 2010? 9 issues across almost two years. That’s fucking sad, Marvel. You’re lucky this book is damn good.

DEFENDERS #4 – I was gonna drop this book, but I’m almost compelled to read every Michael Lark book. Why isn’t this guy on an on-going? He’s amazing.

FATALE #3 – I especially love when he’s on Brubaker books like Gotham Central/Daredevil, but Sean Philips aint no slouch either!

VENOM #14 – RED VENOM HULK GHOST RIDER! RED VENOM HULK GHOST RIDER! DRAWN BY TONY MOORE! I love comics!

WINTER SOLDIER #3 – Man, this book is the new hotness. I hope the art team stays forever.

WOLVERINE #302 – There’s not much of an emotional connection in this story, but it also has jetpack samurais, parachute special force ninjas, AND chainsaw-wielding Yakuza members on motorcycles. So yeah, there’s that!

    BOYS #64

HELLBOY TP VOL 12 THE STORM AND THE FURY

    Not much, it seems!

  8. Lo, There Shall Come a Wackering!!!

No more Marvel for me. Not now and not ever.

As someone who waxed rhapsodic about the art and writing of recent Daredevil, the magic that was Aja on early BruFrac Iron Fist, the splendor of the melodrama inherent in Claremont’s X-Men and many other pleasures along the way great and small (All the way back to Amazing Spider-Man 251 if I recall) it surprises me that I’m closing the book on Marvel over such a tiny straw as some editor being an utter troll. That’s how it always ends though, really, one last little thing that’s enough to make you say, “Eh.”

I may be a grain of salt but you build steam with a grain of salt fellas.

    My purchases this week:

    King City TP
My shop had trouble stocking this and most of it came out prior to my willingness to re-commit to any kind of pull system

    ACTION COMICS #7
Now we’re running on my reserve of Grant Morrison goodwill. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a sizable tank but I get the feeling that this is not necessarily the work he wants to be doing. With the Batman story being ground under the 52 heel and multiversity put on, I’m assuming, some type of indefinite hold I wasn’t surprised to see him venture out of the sandbox to go do Happy.

FATALE #3 – Buying digitally – was happy with it for #2

Eddie Campbell’s ALEC: The Years Have Pants (A Life-Size Omnibus) – Buying Digitally – shop didn’t have a copy so I looked it up and it’s available for $10 on comixology.

I will also likely spend 15 bucks in the basement on $1 back issues. I figure that’s my contribution to the health of the shop since I’m down to very little being currently published.

  9. THE MANHATTAN PROJECTS #1: Image Hickman > Marvel Hickman

HELL YEAH #1: Surprised that I enjoyed GLORY more than PROPHET, so I’m in on this.

WINTER SOLDIER #1: Jury is still out for me, but I’ll hang for a couple more issues.

WOLVERINE & X-MEN: ALPHA & OMEGA #3: Really wish Mark Brooks was handling art for both sequences, but enjoying Wolvie and Armor on the run.

  10. Can’t believe it it’s now 2010. Time flies! It’s that time of the year when we celebrate life, look back at past mistake and resolve to make the future better. I wish you all a very prosperous new year.
