  1. ASTONISHING SPIDEY/WOLVIE
Jason Aaron is my favorite “new” writer. He doesn’t chuck continuity but uses it to write fresh stories (loved his GHOST RIDER work). Probably the only Marvel hero book I’ll buy this month.

    BATMAN & ROBIN
BatDick versus Deathstroke!!!… aaand I’ll need to think of a better nickname for Bats.

    HELLBOY
These are hit & miss (sorry) but “where there is Corben…”

    JONAH HEX
I love the trades but I feel like I should support it in comics form… I dunno. I mean they are generally done-in-ones so why not?

    Wow… big week for me.

  2. Heck, yeah. Ditto what Mr. Yates said about Mr. Aaron. The Aaron’s never less than entertaining work probably represents about 99% of the cash I throw at Marvel. Best give the boy a raise, Chucklin’ Joe!

    ASTONISHING SPIDER-MAN WOLVERINE #1
    (Aaron!)
    BATMAN AND ROBIN #12
    (Morrison!)
    DOOM PATROL #10
(Ambush Bug! Cheeks!Whoop! Whoop! C’mon back, Mr. Rudi!)
    GLAMOURPUSS #13
(I don’t get the fashion stuff at all but I love the comics history stuff.)
HELLBOY IN MEXICO OR DRUNKEN BLUR
    (Corben!)
    JONAH HEX #55
(Simonson cover! Ditto Mr. Yates above again.)
    SPARTA USA #3
    (Bonkers!)
    SPIDER-MAN FEVER #2
    (More bonkers. With custard!)
    SWEET TOOTH #9
    (Kamandi by Cormac McCarthy!)

Hmm. Big week. Comics! Whoop! Whoop!

  3. Oh, I feel I should mention, so it doesn’t get lost in the deluge, that the Black Kiss book by Howard Chaykin is totally incredible stuff both on a craft and a WTF? level. It was mental back in the day and it still remains gloriously so. But, if anyone does take a punt, do remember your safe words, kids!

  4. For a second there I was really happy to see

    “VERONICA AND MOON KNIGHT”

    Oh well.

  5. “Super F$$$$$s”?

  6. I liked Mike Kunkel’s work in that BILLY BATSON AND THE MAGIC OF SHAZAM book, though not at much as his Herobear work. Wish they’d have kept him on SHAZAM at least long enough to fill one book.

I’ll take a look at Joe Kubert’s DONG XOAI VIETNAM 1965 book, but may wait for the softcover of that.

  7. After really indulging in FBCD sales, it’s pretty nice that the only thing on my pull list is B&R. I’ll pick up the Hellboy one shot, too, because Hellboy and luchadors. Oh, and that Corben guy.

  8. BRIGHTEST DAY #1
Really looking forward to this one.

    GLAMOURPUSS #13
This has been a great comic to read and enjoy. Half way mark as well, I think it’s still only a 25 issue series.

    WARLORD #14
The wind down to 16 continues. I loved having a regular monthly Grell fix again.

    HOWARD CHAYKIN BLACK KISS HC
It’s Chaykin, you are always going to be entertained!

  9. Just four this week:

    Amazing Spider-man
(always – but REALLY looking forward to some Lizard and Humberto Ramos)
    Batman & Robin 12
(Morrison at his finest – LOVE his take on the dynamic duo)
    I,Zombie 1
(C’mon its Mike Allred and only a buck. Seriously, Mike Allred drawing zombies=SOLD. Plus, like him better as an artist than a writer. As much as I love Madman and Atomics it just gets a bit too cerebral for my tastes.)
Red Sonja: Wrath of the Gods 4
(loves me my Sonja. Although, this mini hasn’t been the best….)

Sorry on the Doom Patrol John K – I regretted dropping it but it was consistently at the bottom of my pile. Not bad enough to complain about but not great enough to look forward to…. Had to cut a few for the budget to make room.

  10. Yeah, Mr. Rudi, sometimes money into comics just won’t go. I wasn’t trying to badger you or anything I just thought Ambush Bug might be of interest (which is a bit presumptuous in retrospect). I might get that I, Zombie though since it’s only a buck (or a pound), cheers for the heads up on that.
