  1. Wow, this is my week for DC comics. I don’t have too many of those….

ALL STAR BATMAN #12–This has been VERY GOOD during the current Alfred-centric arc.

DOOM PATROL #7–I feel like now that we’ve set the team back up, we can really get into it.

    HEAVENLY BLUES #1–flip-through

KAMANDI CHALLENGE #7 (OF 12)–This has maintained a surprisingly high quality so far, even if the plot is basically one damn thing after another. But that’s pretty much baked inot the nature of the project. So far I’ve liked #5 (Reis & Willingham) and #3 (Palmiotti & Conner) the best.

SAGA #45–You know what I learned the other day? Petrichor: a distinctive scent, usually described as earthy, pleasant, or sweet, produced by rainfall on very dry ground. Gives a different view of the character than you had previously, doesn’t it?

  2. A big DC week for me too:

ACTION COMICS #984: kneel before…. Has been pretty GOOD, but I expected more somehow.

BATMAN THE SHADOW #4 (OF 6)- VERY GOOD and seamless fit between these two pulp heroes. Bring on the bad guys!

CROSSWIND #2 – VERY GOOD opening issue, where suburbia was definitely more terrifying than gangland executions. Let’s see how the switcheroo works.

DOOM PATROL #7 – decently GOOD. Grant’s second arc brought us the Brotherhood of Dada…here’s hoping for something equally good.

HAL JORDAN AND THE GREEN LANTERN CORPS #25 has been EXCELLENT of late. Soranik has become a central part of the GL mythos in a very short time.

SAGA #45 – back up to being VERY GOOD, although I’m not sure about magic Alana.

SCOOBY DOO TEAM UP #28 Sholly Fisch writing Jonah Hex. If you need further convincing, pick up the EXCELLENT issue with GL/GA from a few months back.

SUICIDE SQUAD #22 is VERY GOOD obnoxious fun. As it should be.

WEAPON X #6 WMD – is a contained event with a nostalgic level of high-octane ‘xplodey, much like WORLD WAR HULK was. People loved the latter, but this GOOD book gets no love. Is the Marvel Secret Legacy anger so high? Don’t answer that.

COMICS! What else would I do with my Wednesday?

  3. BLACK HAMMER #11 – this has been very good so far, but can wait a month for the price drop

SAGA #45 – I’ve never thought this completely lives up to all the hype, but it is nonetheless generally very good

TRANSFORMERS LOST LIGHT #8 – there has been so much excellence over the last five years or so (as MTMTE), but has felt a bit off since the relauch. Still one of my favourite reads every month though

WAYWARD #22 – this has been good fun and is probably due a re-read from the beginning at some point this year, but will wait a month for the price drop

  4. 27th?

  5. Anyone know what happened to Blood Brothers #2, by Dynamite?

I’ve seen reviews for it online, but my FLCS says the book was suddenly cancelled, and I can’t find a print copy anywhere.

  6. Definitely OUTCAST, WAYWARD, and TMNT USAGI YOJIMBO.

SHIRTLESS BEAR FIGHTER sold me in the first issue with the image of our hero’s flying machine.

And the return of Way’s DOOM PATROL makes me hope somebody can create a “Let the Weird Times Roll” theme for the comic.
