  1. Some good comics here:

ADVENTURE COMICS #525 (Long live the Legion of Applicant Heroes! PS: Jiminez draws a mighty fine Night Girl)

ALL NEW BATMAN THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD #6 (Rick Burchett Clayface and the MArtian Manhunter! OUTRAGEOUS!)

    BATGIRL #20 (great fun)

DOC SAVAGE #13 (a new writer feller is doing this)

    NORTHLANDERS #39 (rarely ever disappoints)

UNWRITTEN #24 (may be losing steam, for me)

WARLORD OF MARS DEJAH THORIS #2 (those Paul Renaud covers…. WOW)

  2. ADVENTURE COMICS #525
    AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #658
    BIGBATGIRL #20
    BATMAN AND ROBIN #22
    BUTCHER BAKER RIGHTEOUS MAKER #2
DC COMICS PRESENTS BATMAN ARKHAM #1
    FLASH #10 (FLASHPOINT)
INFINITE VACATION #2 – I figured I’d missed some issues as the ads in all my Image comics have been saying #4 was out this month.
JUSTICE LEAGUE GENERATION LOST #23 (BRIGHTEST DAY)
    LIL DEPRESSED BOY #3
    SUPERBOY #6 (DOOMSDAY)
    SUPERMAN #710

THOR BY WALTER SIMONSON OMNIBUS HC – Well, I’d like to, but I’d struggle to find the time to sit down with it, so can’t really justify the price tag.

  3. Another BLACK PANTHER, so soon? Nice. Maybe HELLBOY too.

  4. Well, one or two things caught my eye, thanks for asking!

ALL NEW BATMAN THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD #6
    (“Outrageous” – Corey(Ottawa))
    CASANOVA GULA #4
    (It’s okay. )
    DOC SAVAGE #13
(Cancellation rumours! Pah! Do not bother Doc Savage with such trifles! He has some shirtless staring into the middle distance to do!)
    INFINITE VACATION #2
(Great day in the morning! Come quick, Ma! It’s some of them there creative types being all ambitious or somesuch!)
    IRON MAN 2.0 #3
    (Like this? Try T.H.U.N.D.E.R. AGENTS!)
    JOHN BYRNE NEXT MEN #5
(I keep expecting Job from the smash-hit sold out Bible to join the group. They have a rough time is what I’m saying.))
    NEW AVENGERS #11
(Sigh. You can survive this Howard Victor Chaykin. Yes, even this. Because you are strong. Comics Strong!)
    NORTHLANDERS #39
(More historically accurate than Viking Prince! Fact! It’s also great! That’s two facts in quick succession. Keep up!)
    PUNISHERMAX #12
(Paralysed Punisher vs. prison population! Recidivism rate rapidly reduced!)
    SHIELD INFINITY
(Oh, do come on, Marvel, your numbering system is just out of control now!)
    T.H.U.N.D.E.R. AGENTS #6
(Like this? Try IRON MAN 2.0!)
WARLORD OF MARS DEJAH THORIS #2
(Ah. You can almost feel the red sands of Mars scrape your taint. Actually, dressed like that you definitely would.)

    Books / Mags / Stuff

“Whosoever holds this book, if he be wealthy, shall possess the power of THOR BY WALTER SIMONSON OMNIBUS HC”.

    Comics? KraKKKaaaKKATthoOOoMMMM, baby!

  5. John K(UK): If no one has stolen that tagline for the SIMONSON THOR OMNIBUS, they should.

It’s a shame it’s not a boom time for the marketplace–in better days, I’d think CE’s order for that omnibus alone would take up several cases…

(And, in fact, very well may–I’m super-blindly hypothesizing…)

  6. Agreed Jeff:

John K (UK) always gets the zingers out. It’s a shame his comics arrive bi-monthly on a tramp steamer piloted by the Latverian mafia, because I bet his reviews would be stellar.

  7. Corey (Ottawa) – Why, thank you, I think you are wildly overestimating me but I thank you for your kind words nevertheless. Alas, my zingers must remain concealed after that misunderstanding in the mixed sauna. Look, it never went to court, allright?

Speaking of reviews, you know whose reviews I miss? Mr. Jeff Lester’s! I mean everybody here is top notch and gratifying in a very real way that verges on the erotic but Mr. Jeff Lester’s reviews always had some kind of creepy/unsettling metaphor that would be enlightening and thought provoking. Like that time he compared comics to a brothel or that time he compared reading NEW AVENGERS to waking up on a crowded bus dressed only in your mum’s knickers. Please understand I’m not asking for you to do more reviews, Mr. Jeff Lester, I’m just saluting the ones you did do.

Mr Jeff Lester – “I’m super-blindly hypothesizing” – so you’re like the Matt Murdock of comics retailing? Jeff Lester – The Man Without Data! (Just riffing, sir, nothing personal!)
I reckon it would have made sense to order a few crates of TBWSOHC after all these things go out of print pretty quick and then have ridiculous asking prices that make anyone interested rue the day they didn’t stump up the cash when they came out. (Yes, I did wait too long to get the TOMB OF DRACULA ones. Can you tell? Gene’s The Dean!) At the very least any unsold stock can easily be fashioned into a large throne like arrangement from which Mr. Brian Hibbs can direct his homunculi like a sort of Odin with clogged sinuses.

Anyway, I hope everyone enjoys the new comics on this the day of new comics! (Sigh. The Latverian mafia! Damn their eyes!)

  8. That Simonson THOR omnibus is so big it has it’s own field of gravity.
