Wait, What? Ep. 122: Capespaces

Jeff Lester

From Bandette #4 by Paul Tobin and Colleen Coover. It’s pretty damn delightful. Hey, everyone!  Next week is a skip week!  Do you hear me? SKIP WEEK. Show notes?  Oh yes, there are certainly show notes. RIGHT AFTER THE JUMP.

Wait, What? Ep. 105: Ringing Endorsements

Jeff Lester

Brandon Graham’s Multiple Warheads: Worth the Trip Safe and dry on the left coast, we are willing and able to provide you with two-plus hours of distraction.  At no point in the following podcast do we mention the extensive rat population of New York clawing their way to higher ground even if it means going through dark, electricity free apartments and the helpless population contained therein to do so.  Not once! So…join us after the jump and help us think happy thoughts, won’t you?

Wait, What? Ep. 74: Who Before Watches the Before Watchmen?

Jeff Lester

I hope you have your calendar cleared until 2014, because that’s how long it’s going to take before Graeme and I get to answering all your questions from this thread. Honestly, how were we to know Before Watchmen was going to launched the day before we were scheduled to talk?  As the astute listener may note, we were pretty reluctant to launch into the topic and how clearly tried to get it out of our system beforehand…but like one of those county fair snacks gone bad, it keeps finding new and horrible ways to re-surge and expel itself. So join us, won’t you, for Wait, What? Ep. 74?  The first eighty minutes is Graeme and I talking Watchmen, Before Watchmen,…  Read More…

More Cowbell: Jeff on Things and Stuff.

Jeff Lester

At first, I was just going to write about Paul Tobin and Colleen Coover’s Gingerbread Girl, but I’m still trying to figure out what I’m going to say about it.  (Uh, things?  And, uh, stuff?) So, after the jump, Gingerbread Girl, X-Men: First Class (the movie), Star Wars Omnibus (Vol. 3), and more…things and stuff. (oh, and don’t forget to scroll down for the shipping list…and John’s reviews…and Graeme’s reviews?!  Holy shit. We need to learn how to pace ourselves.)

Around the Store in 31 Days: Day Eight

Brian Hibbs

Did I mention that I’m making this up as I go along? I don’t have a list books that I’m covering or anything, I’m just wandering in the store each day and coming up with whatever suits my fancy that day. I’m also trying to (in the end) cover each of the racks in the store — some racks have 2-5 genres/authors on them (like the Miller/Moore/Morrison/Creating Comics) rack — if I just do one book in each category as I have them at the store, then I’d be at like 28 books from just that. Some of them are easier than others. For example, today I think I’m eyeing the “licensed comics” rack, and that’s a pretty hard one…  Read More…

Crazy baby

Brian Hibbs

I’m watching Ben today while Tzipora is off shopping — the kid is a little dynamo, trying to get into little nooks and crannies where he shouldn’t be. There’s only so much baby proofing you can do, and there’s always some place he shouldn’t be. His latest thing is to rip apart the CD collection… which is on a shelf under the TV, abotu 4 feet off the ground. Yet the little terror manages to crawl up there with no real problem. Quickly, a few more books while I’ve distracted him with some shiny keys! WALKING DEAD #9: Like I said, I need to cleanse my palate every few shitty comics. Glad I picked this one. Gripping, human story by…  Read More…
