Wait, What? Ep. 138: Gone Galoshing

Jeff Lester

Ahh, nostalgia. I used to love that cover….and I know I should crop out that border.  But. Hey, Internet! My apologies in advance–things are rushed, except maybe a little more so! My Monday schedule changed around a bit so it’s gonna be a rush on my part to make sure they still happen before Tuesday morning. All of which is to say: join me after the jump for some very hasty show notes, yes?

“…I Won’t Insult You By Quoting Neitzsche.” COMICS! Sometimes Chaykin Is Your Higher Power!

John Kane

Hey, it’s another version of Iron Man‘s origin but with a more realistic approach to booze abusing! So it’s over to the Master of The Mai-Tai hissownself Mr. Howard Victor Chaykin, with an assist from Mr. Gerald Parel, to bring all the short term memory loss, vomiting, visuo-spatial impairments, erectile dysfunction and renal failure fans of The Inebriated Iron Man demand! Anyway, this…

Wait, What? Ep. 112: A New Dope

Jeff Lester

Wasn’t able to find Ditko inking Kirby, but here’s Dan Clowes inking Ditko! Ganked from Robot 6 and elsewhere… Okay, and so but here is our latest episode about which I will provide you with more detail after the jump!

Wait, What? Ep. 107: Hardly Working

Jeff Lester

Australian, as she is spoke–from All-New X-Men #1, by Brian Bendis and Stuart Immonen So, I am loathe to admit it…but I totally did that thing where I was running under the gun and so the show notes have a certain je ne sais LEAVE FIFTY THOUSAND IN THE TRASH CAN AT EAST ENTRANCE OF CENTRAL PARK OR SHE IS DEAD quality to them. Nonetheless, after the jump: show notes!

All over the map: Hibbs’ 11/7

Brian Hibbs

Wait, What? Ep. 106: You Are Number Six.

Jeff Lester

At Graeme’s Behest: the cover to Colder #1 Yeah, that’s a pleasant way to get your Tuesday rolling, eh? Anyhoo, very truncated version of things this time around, I’m afraid but after the jump…show notes!

Wait, What? Ep. 103: Churls on Film

Jeff Lester

They had me at “Kpow!”: Gil Kane Atom slugs Gil Kane Green Lantern, from Justice League of America #200. And so it’s that time again, O Mighty Whatnauts.  Join us behind the jump for show notes and kvetching, ‘kay?

“I don’t know about the cat.” Comics! Sometimes they are a bit creepy!

John Kane

Hey, I read some comics and then I wrote about them in a hot new style I like to call “cack-handed”. If you aren’t doing anything else this weekend, sugar rush, you might want to get your hands  all cacky with me?

“Hey, Title that Post, Hibbs!” — stuff from 7/20

Verse Chorus Verse: Jeff’s Capsule Reviews from 6/8

Jeff Lester

Does it bode ill for my reviews when I can’t think of a clever thing to say while convincing you to follow me behind the jump for capsule reviews?  It probably is, isn’t it?  Ah, well.  I just finished watching the screen adaptation of The Black Dahlia.  I mean, I’d heard that movie would be bad, but there were wrong casting decisions, terrible direction, and some bad mistakes in adapting Ellroy’s skeezy epic to the screen. As a quasi-fan of Brian DePalma, it’s a painful, painful movie to watch.  And I blame it for my inability to bring you a witty intro: the movie is a like a form of slow-acting toxin to the higher brain functions. Anyway, after the…  Read More…

Hibbs’ some of 5/18

It looks like Graeme and Jeff and I are now playing Chicken again.  Which of us will blink first?

Some more from 8/11

INVINCIBLE #14: Top notch super-fun here — I really liked the teleport gag. A few captions are pretty radically overwritten, but, ah, so what? Very Good IRON MAN #432: Ah. Add another Dead Girlfriend in the Fridge to the list, Gail. This is taking the easy path to drama, but at least no one got raped…. Eh SPIDER-MAN #5: Nice Frank Cho art, but, blech I don’t like Millar’s characterizations of anyone here. Why is MJ calling Felicia “Babe”? Or insisting she’s an idiot over and over again? “This is supposed to be the HOBBY”? No, sir, I don’t like this. I don’t want “gritty” Spider-Man! Awful. I mentioned the other day that people should pick up BIRTH OF A…  Read More…
