  1. MIND MGMT #1 – Matt Kindt doing the voodoo he do so well. I’m really looking forward to this.

PROPHET #25 – I love this comic. I don’t know what else to say.

YOUNGBLOOD #71 – I…have a soft spot for Rob Liefeld. I can’t explain it. I probably need to go on medicine.

  2. Aquaman #9:
The decompression on this book is driving me crazy and the preview pages for this month show it not getting any better. What’s in this book is reasonably good. Give us more of it!

    Prophet #25:
I bought this book on the advice of the members of this board. And it’s totally awesome, thanks guys. Really scratches my far-out sci-fi itch.

  3. I don’t know about everyone else, but I quite enjoyed last weeks comic haul. Nothing partiuarly blew my mind, the #1′s I tried didn’t convince me to keep picking them up… but I still had a great old time reading them all. Here’s to more weeks like that!

ALL STAR WESTERN #9 – Hmmm… the book just got out of Gotham, which led to it instantly being more fun/interesting, so now it’s tieing into a Batman crossover. Hmmm. I’m not sure how this will go. Let’s hope for a two page tie-in, with the rest spent fighting them dirty southern racists!

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #686 – Looking forward to this – Slott is the best Spider-Man writer of the 21st century!

AQUAMAN #9 – Chris Brown speaks true! Even odder, it gets more decompressed any time Black Manta shows up. Is that a bizarre meta-commentary as he’s traveled from the depths of the ocean?

BATMAN INCORPORATED #1 – I hope G-Mozza wraps up with a bang, not a whimper. Shame they are getting rid of the yellow oval. Bigger shame DC knocked this run out of it’s groove to the point I’m nowhere near as excited about it as I was last year.

FLASH #9 – Francis Manapul. What a legend!

JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK #9 – I’ll give Lemire a shot. But if I flick through and see The Rot, I’m running away.

MIND MGMT #1 – Matt! Kindt!

PROPHET #25 – Still waiting on a reorder/print of #24. Good thing having no clue what’s going on is part of this series’ appeal.

RESIDENT ALIEN #1 – I got the #0 of this, reprinting the DHP stores. Dudes! This book is sweeet! An alien, living the life of a loner fisherman in a small town, ends up becoming the towns M.D after their last doc is murdered – and as he has mad skillz, he starts investigating the murder as well.
Art by Steve Parkhouse, story by Peter Hogan – c’mon everyone, support the comicy goodness!

SUPERMAN #9 – Oh Gawd. It’s time for the issue introducing ‘The Masochist’. This could be a breaking point for me.

YOUNGBLOOD #71 – Maaaaaybe. I’ve enjoyed the other Extreme relaunches, but they had good looking previews, and this one doesn’t. Maaaaaaaybe.

  4. Feast or famine on the Ohio comics front.

    LAST WEEK!

    ADVENTURE TIME #4
    Sold out.

BPRD HELL ON EARTH DEVILS ENGINE #1 (OF 3)
Still sitting on the read pile! First time in forever. Too Much comics!

    CONAN THE BARBARIAN #4
It wasn’t quite Cloonan but this guy is very good. He was on the last BPRD arc.

    DANGER CLUB #2
Damn it. I knew I forgot to do something

    GLORY #26
Well, I’m going to keep getting it. That thing wearing the old lady like an “Edgar suit” was pretty disgusting.

I feel kind of crappy turning around and praising Keating for taking such a headlong rush towards a huge development here at the end of this issue.

Last week, I felt the prophecy dream might have been better used woven throughout the A plot of the next several issues. This outing feels more like a declaration of “No screwing around. I don’t know how many issues I’m going to get so let’s get it going.”

    JUSTICE LEAGUE #9
I think I would buy every issue of a Justice League comic that just substitutes DC superheroes into old Larry Hama GI Joe stories.

    SAGA #3
“Will it hurt?” “Only when it ends.” BKV!!! Also, Lying Cat for best new character.

    SAUCER COUNTRY #3
Yes, better. Less clunky – more…motivated?

    SHADE #8 (OF 12)
Again – top, top, top issue. Jill Thompson did her thing all over this. Robinson played it very well, I felt.

    SHADOW #2
Awesome. Money well spent. When I opened the book the immediate full page vertical with horizontal art was like a kick in the head. Neat-o effect 4 books into the pile and really woke me up!

    WONDER WOMAN #9
“Chiang me and hurry up about it.” You didn’t even Chiang me!

    THIS WEEK!

    BATMAN INCORPORATED #1
I AM VERY EXCITED FOR THIS.

    PROPHET #25
I AM VERY – VERY EXCITED FOR THIS.

    RAGEMOOR #3
I AM WORRIED THERE WILL BE MORE MONKEY THINGS IN THIS.

  5. Oooh! What we got here then?

ALL STAR WESTERN #9 (NIGHT OF THE OWLS)
(Arkham: “Beware, Jonah! A man dressed as an Owl is about to set upon us!”
    BANG!
Jonah Hex: “Not without a face he ain’t.”
    THE END.)
    BATMAN INCORPORATED #1
(A bold new direction for The Batman as he, Robin, Batgirl, Batwoman and Ace The Bathound travel America having spooky adventures in a van emblazoned with “Batman Incorporated”. Yoinks! Pow! Jinkies!)
    DARK HORSE PRESENTS #12
(I like anthologies! I like this! Could do with more Howard Victor Chaykin. Where is he anyway these days. I’m pining here.)
    HERO COMICS 2012
(Here he is! Howard Victor Chaykin is on the HERO Disbursement Committee. So be nice to HVC comics creators – you may want to eat when you are old!)
    MIND MGMT #1
    (Matt! Kindt!)
    PROPHET #25
(Where’s the backlash? What’s up with everyone!?!)
    RAGEMOOR #3
(And in the darkness, Corben RISING!))
WARLORD OF MARS DEJAH THORIS #12
(Note to self: I need to cancel this.)

    Books / Mags / Stuff

In that alternate dimension where I am better at Life I’d buy these:
ADVENTURES INTO THE UNKNOWN ARCHIVES HC VOL 01
(Contains a story called “Kill, Puppets, Kill!”. Good enough for me!)
SHOWCASE PRESENTS SEA DEVILS TP VOL 01
    (Russ Heath!)
STEVE DITKO ARCHIVES HC VOL 03 MYSTERIOUS TRAVELER
(I hope he mysteriously travels to Portland. I don’t think people go on about Portland enough. It would be nice if Portland got more bigging up. They filmed that movie where Tommy Lee Jones had boss knife fights with Benicio Del Toro on trams and stuff in Portland, y’know. I saw it in the credits. So, I guess Portland has trams and knife fights. Like Blackpool on a Bank Holiday but without the Tower. I love Steve Ditko’s stuff.)

In a world of beasts only men read COMICS!!!

  6. ALL STAR WESTERN #9 – last issue really worked for me, so I’m loathe to get it all dragged back to Gotham.

BATMAN INCORPORATED #1 – ah yes, but which Grant Morrison do we get on this book?

I VAMPIRE #9 – dark, moody and beautiful.

DARK HORSE PRESENTS #12 – the return of Mister X!

LORD OF THE JUNGLE ANNUAL #1

MIND MGMT #1 – I really liked “3 Story: The Secret History of the Giant Man” and am looking forward to this too.

PROPHET #25 – I have added ten Image comics to my pull list. I am pretty sure I have not bought ten individual Image comics before this year. There is a lot happening there, and arguably, they are finally living up to their potential. Except for Youngblood coming back. That blows monkey chunks.

RESIDENT ALIEN #1 – Like Ben Lipman, I also got the #0 and was just wowed with this. Great book.

COMIC BOOK HISTORY OF COMICS GN – awesome stuff! just the right mix of funny and fact.

  7. @J Smitty

I saw your positive comments about me last week and felt too bashful to say anything back. I think you were best off not finding ADVENTURE TIME #4. It was the last chapter to a multi-part story and that’s always awkward. It’s damn good comics, though. Sorta like PROPHET with more laughs and candy.
